Vale Steve Hammond
A great friend and supporter of the T.G.C., Steve Hammond, passed away suddenly recently while on a charter boat in north Queensland while fishing. Steve, whilst licensee of the Stock Hotel, was responsible for organising some of his personal friends like Willie Carne, Wally Lewis, Ian Healy and Wayne Bennett to be guest speakers at our highly profitable Sportsman's Dinners. He is also responsible for us conducting raffles at the Stock.
He was a really great guy, responsible for the club earning in excess of over $20,000 over the years and a great mate to Remo, Ron and Bill White. Furthermore, he was in the process of going into another licensed venue in Toowoomba and was already committed to more support of our club. He will be sadly missed.
Vale Gil Chapman
Today an email was sent out from QVC president Rod Rice informing of the sad passing of Gill Chapman. Gill was involved in the initial support for me to initiate the T.G.C. in 2016. He has been a friend since then and, as Rod said, was a lifelong cricketer and his contribution to Veterans Cricket cannot be measured.
It is a sad reminder that we need to make every day and every game of cricket count.
You will be missed, Gill and Steve.
