What is Vets Cricket

My name is Ian Reimers and I am the President and co-founder of the Toowoomba Grey Cavaliers Veterans Cricket Club Inc. The club was founded in 2017 and from very humble beginnings we have grown to be a club of 6 teams involving over 50 and over 60 years age group teams.

We represent Toowoomba and surrounding regions competing in a highly organised State competition run by Queensland Veterans Cricket. We place a very high priority on the ideal of inclusiveness and mateship. The club is made up of veteran cricket tragics who want to continue to play the sport that they love in a competitive spirit, against people their own age.

Fixtures commence in April and conclude in August. We play every second weekend. 12 a side, every player has the opportunity to bat and bowl. There are compulsory retirements in batting to ensure everyone gets a chance to bat. We have Divisions within each age group, over 50’s and over 60’s to ensure that you can compete at your level.

Representing the club will involve travelling all over southeast Queensland and meeting and making friends with likeminded people from other clubs.
